Wyoming!

Our next stop in the Black Hills was Deadwood.

Bizarre town...a bit depressing. Every one of the storefronts is a casino. Maybe during the summer when people flock to this area the gambling and food establishments are upbeat and lively. Today, they were pretty deserted. The few solitary patrons, ordering one mid-afternoon drink after another in the dark casinos gave the whole town a desperate, hopeless feel. We ate and did not linger.

We were thinking we'd drive through central Wyoming and up through Jackson an the Tetons into Yellowstone. Instead, we chose the northern route.

This allowed for a peek at Devi's Tower.

Where we saw a random llama...

being chased by sheep.

Driving west through Wyoming right into the setting sun. At first painfully blinding...now, as it dips below the Rocky Mountains in the distance...breathtaking.

Stayed in Buffalo, WY. Funny how I've never associated the town of Buffalo, NY with the animal, but here in Wyoming it's the first thing that comes to mind.

Tomorrow we drive to Cody!
