Setting Forth

Destination: Ottawa

Did I mention that we got tickets to see Eddie, Stone, Mike, Jeff and Matt in Ottawa as well?

Pulling out of our driveway, waving to my mom and dad, I had one tiny twinge of sadness/fear about being away for a month.

It was gone before it came to fruition. As we leave our neighborhood, town, state (actually country) behind, the excitement continues to build.

Glitch #1 occurred before we even left VT. It was a little tight through Alburgh...

May as well get it out of the way and break the ice. A little duct tape, for now, and we'll be on our way.

We are staying in hotels twice this trip, on the concert nights, so the kids and Chapin aren't camped out in the RV on their own. Tonight will be Chapin's first-ever hotel stay.

Love to see the fans roll in!

Last week we went to Montreal for yet another concert. Midway through the show, the guy next to Andy started bopping about, threatening a personal space invasion. Andy gave him an elbow and a few choice words. Tonight, at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, after having a beer and listening to Mudhoney from an eardrum-safe distance, we made our way to our seats. (14th row on the floor!!!) We were about to take our traditional pre-show self-portrait...

when the SAME GUY sits down right beside Andy. Obviously these two were meant to meet, right? His name is Omar...he reminded us of a great guy we know named Shawn Corrow (so we liked him immediately.)

Pearl Jam rocks. That's all there is to it.

The crowd was appreciative (one woman especially...LOL!) Highlights for me were hearing Breath and a Scream, Rearviewmirror and my current favorite, Unthought Known. And seeing this tiny fan...

After the concert, we got back to the hotel at about midnight. Chloe was glued to House Hunters, Sam was reading Arena. Andy and I, on a post-show high, impulsively decided to pile into the RV and get a head start on tomorrow's drive. Not knowing how far we'll make it, we will most likely take advantage of Walmart's handy policy...

"While we do not offer electrical service or accommodations typically necessary for RV customers, Walmart values RV travelers and considers them among our best customers. Consequently, we do permit RV parking on our store lots as we are able."

Canada is full of Walmarts. We're aiming for one in Pembrooke...
