Gratitude
I am still amazed at the way the logistics of this trip worked out. And I feel the need to express loads of gratitude. First to Andy, for being on board with the whole scheme from the beginning, for driving all but maybe 200 of the almost 4000 miles, and for suggesting (when he knew he only had two weeks) that my parents join us for the second half.
Also to my mom and dad. They have always, always embraced the philosophy of what's ours is yours. So totally selfless. We've put almost 4000 miles on this vehicle and it doesn't seem to phase them a bit. That's not all, though. They also offered to drive up to Vermont and deliver Carlos to our doorstep, and subsequently agreed to drop their original plans, drive our car to Dayton, fly to Seattle to meet up with us, and travel with us for another 3000 miles or so...with a dog.
My parents have never had a pet. I take that back. We had a bird once. A parakeet named Arnold. I believe my mom got quite attached to him. Neither of them, however, really know what to do with a dog. Fortunately Kali (Chris and Anna's sweet pup) has broken them in a little. Should be interesting. Anyway, I am so very thankful. The experience has already been, and will continue to be priceless.
