Rt 1

My mom is playing Pearl Jam for me. My dad has not yet complained. I, in turn am enjoying Zac Brown...

Agate hunting at Agate Beach near Crescent City. I found a handful...I think. Upon my return, I'll ask Shannon to take a look :)

Finally found the coveted Junior Ranger vest.

I see these signs and still have to pinch myself.

We encountered the stunning beauty of Coastal Rt 1as well as the hairpin turns.

My mom fell in love with these plants. She insisted on cutting some with the intention of taking them to Florida for use as a decorative accent. Wanting to know more about them, she asked a park ranger at our next stop. They are an invasive weed.

We didn't fit, so we stood under it instead.

Our chosen campground came up on on us quickly. Right on the beach.

Rumikub, burgers, wine...
All good.
Some silly antics from Charlie and Al. Very fun night.

Redwoods!

"Woah! WOW! OH my....! Look at that! WHOA!!!"

Chloe went berserk!
Sam was wowed.

They look really cool from the road, pillars of trunks that appear to reach the sky. To stand among them, however, is to feel them with a different sense. These ancient trees are stoic and wise. It seems necessary to whisper, as to not disturb their peace. I don't want to leave. I think, if I sat for a while amid these pillars of the earth, I might get answers to some of those questions I don't know who to ask.

Their permanence is comforting, yet disconcerting. So insignificant am I, yet one with it all...somehow.

Wow.

Down the Coast

Bird Rock

"It would be cool to live here. This is some of best property ever." Guess who?

Lunch on the dunes.

Chapin's first taste of saltwater.

Mom moments :)

Redwoods tomorrow!
