Durango!

Next on our agenda was Four Corners. In my mind I envisioned a public place where one can stand or pose in all four states at the same time. Instead, it is a monument on a reservation, and run by Native Americans. Hence, it has operating hours. We googled information about at least being able to see the fenced off are after 5pm. A comment on Trip Advisor warned us of the wild dogs that prowl the area at night. We chose to stay away. And we did indeed encounter several wild dogs in the area.

Our next destination was to be Mesa Verde National Park. We made it as far as the sign...

and after a warning from the park ranger, promptly turned around. Apparently, even the visitor's center is 1000 feet up a rather steep hill.

On to Durango!

Unusual for the beginning of October even here!

Our first stop in this hip Colorado town was for breakfast.

We actually had a bit of time to shop. Three happy girls!

Look what I found at a news stand :)

Our progress was stalled once again, when we are advised, by a cop this time, to not proceed over Wolf Creek pass. He suggested, instead, that we enjoy an evening in Pagosa Springs.

So we walked around a bit in the sulfur-scented air, checking out hot springs,

then came upon a brewery.
